The Book of Esther

In the book of Esther the chapter and verses are numbered by different standards.  The chart below lists Jerome's Latin Vulgate in the left column and the New American Bible's system in the right column.  The columns are separated by     =  .

 

 

Comparing one text of the Book of Esther with another translation presents many difficulties. The Douay Rheims Bible, DRB, uses Jerome’s Latin Vulgate numbering system, and the New American Bible , NAB, follows another system that is used in the Greek text. Logos Bible software uses a third system.

“Mardochai” in the Douay Rheims Bible is called “Mordecai” in the New American Bible. Verse 15:3 seems to be numbered differently.
