Defending the Glory of God

10.  Jesus’ Example

We will never love Mary as much as Jesus does.

We don't have to be afraid of Mary.  She is in heaven and her will is completely conformed to God's will [ as will our own when we go to heaven.]  She points us to her Son, tells us to do whatever He says, and to worship Him, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, the One True God.

Matthew 17:1-3
“ … Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.  And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light.  And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him.”

Jesus talked with the Old Testament Saints.  The Bible shows us that they are very aware of what is going on down here on earth.   This is confirmed in the parallel passage of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ in Luke’s Gospel.

Luke 9:30-31
“And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.”

And Jesus gives us an example of humility by accepting help from an angel.

Luke 22:39-44
“And he  [Jesus]  came out, and went … to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. … And he … kneeled down, and prayed,  ‘Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.’  And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.  And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.”   KJV

The angel only had the power to help Him because God’s grace was working within him and that grace produced in the angle both the desire to help as well as enabling the ability of the angel to help.  It is God’s grace from beginning to end.  The same is true of the Saints.  As they freely choose to act in conjunction with God's grace they are able to help us by the prayers that they say for us.

By humbling Himself to accept this help from an Angel, Jesus gives us an example to humble ourselves and accept the help that God wants to give us through all of His creatures in Heaven.

1 Corinthians 12:20-21
“But as it is, there are many parts, yet one body.  The eye cannot say to the hand,   ‘I do not need you,’  nor again the head to the feet,  ‘I do not need you.’ ”

Jesus came to us through Mary, and so we imitate Him in going to Him through her.
